Destiny’s Call
Chapter 19 – Splitting Up
________________________

Lexice walked around the large white castle, examining everything around her. “I’m home…I’m finally home” she said aloud, happily. She turned around the next corner of the castle to see dozens of wounded soldiers walking into the front castle doors. She jumped back and poked her head out just far enough so she could see.

“We’re all dead once the King finds out that those guys got away with the Princess.” One of the soldiers groaned.

“Princess? Princess Zelda?” Lexice thought.

“And to make things worse, it was that guy in green” Another soldier said.

Eager to figure out what was going on, Lexice decided to teleport into the throne room of the castle. Her portal created up near the ceiling on a balcony that was level with several chandeliers. She peered over the edge as the General of the soldiers walked in.

“You-your M-majesty” the General stuttered. The King glared at him. He knew full well that his men had failed to rescue his daughter. “We…almost had them” the general continued.

“I understand General…you did your best…” the King said calmly as he shrugged.

The General was surprised. “Y-you do?” he said with a bit of hope in his voice.

“Ganondorf” the King called. Ganondorf emerged from behind a door behind the King’s throne. They nodded to each other before Ganondorf shot out a purple beam from the palm of his hand at the General. He let out a quick scream but instantly silenced and fell to the ground. Lexice flinched as the General flew back and fell limp.

“…But your best wasn’t good enough” the King finished.

A black portal appeared beside Ganondorf and the King. Lexice watched as Xemnas was revealed. “So…do we have a deal…your Majesty?” he asked.

The King exhaled heavily and smiled. “It’s a deal. You bring me back my daughter and that boy in green alive and I give you that old necklace. I haven’t a clue why you would want it but if you’re certain that it’s what you want, you can have it.” He said. “Ganondorf, I want you to go with this man, Xemnas, and help him and his gang to find Zelda.”

Ganondorf nodded. “Sorry…uh…Ganondorf, but you can’t come with me in my portal or will kill the both of us.” Xemnas explained.

“Very well. I shall do better on foot anyway.” Ganondorf replied.

Xemnas handed him a sheet of paper with numbers on it. “Here is the co-ordinates of my castle. If you ever need to find me, chances are that I’ll be there.”

Ganondorf nodded as he took the paper and put it in his pocket. “Off with the both of you then. Zelda was injured so they could not have gotten very far.” The King said.

Xemnas disappeared into a portal as Ganondorf exited out the door. Lexice ducked back behind the balcony.

“Hmm…so Xemnas is after some necklace now as well? Is the fire pendant attached to the necklace or something? No, it’s supposed to be in Altea somewhere.” Lexice thought to herself. “Maybe Larxene came here with the other traitors like Marluxia and helped this guy in green get Princess Zelda out of here. But wait, where’s her brother? Prince…Prince Marth! Oh forget this! I’m here to look for that boy. Why can’t I remember his name?!” she let out a small groaning noise from frustration.

“Is someone there!?” the King shouted.

Lexice’s ‘heart’ stopped. “Don’t get caught…” she said in her mind. “I have to get out and find him…I have to find…Roy.”

“Are you alright?” Zelda asked Sora.

He nodded. “Yeah I’m fine. How’s your back?”

Zelda smiled at him. “Much better now.”

“Any other new abilities you want to warn us about Marluxia?!” Riku said angrily.

Marluxia and Larxene laughed. “Oh you have no idea” Larxene smirked.

“The entire Organization came back and we all discovered we had several new abilities along with our old ones. For example, I have healing powers now” Zexion explained.

“It doesn’t matter right now, what we need to do is get Marth, Roy and Ike to Altea before OrganizationXIII gets that fire pendant.” Marluxia reminded everyone.

“Teleporting is out of the question” Link said as he exhaled rather loudly.

“So then what do we do?” Marth asked. No one spoke. Everyone was hoping to just teleport there, grab the pendant and teleport back. They could wait until Roy and Marth had enough energy to teleport but by the time that happened, OrganizationXIII would have already got the pendant.

“We’re going to have to travel there on foot” Ike spoke up. Everyone looked over at him, surprised.

“It’ll take too long to travel all the way there. Marth and I could have more than enough energy by the time you would make it.” Roy said.

“Not if you know a shortcut” Ike said smiling.

A loud ringing noise suddenly rang out from the far end of the room. “Sorry” Cloud said he pulled out his cell phone from his pocket.

“What is that?” Zelda asked, pointing at Cloud’s phone.

“It’s a cell phone. You can talk to other people around the world with it” Samus answered.

“Hello?” Cloud said as he answered his phone.

“C-Cloud…I was just…just…” Tifa’s voice said.

“Tell the - ” Cloud cursed “ – who’s holding the gun to you to talk to me themselves!”

He could hear the phone shifting around and then a far too familiar voice came out from the phone. “Hello, Cloud”

“Sephiroth! If you hurt her or Denzel or Marlene…I’ll…I’ll kill you!” he shouted as he slammed his fist on the wall in front of him.

“Relax Cloud. I’m not after her. She isn’t a wanted criminal like yourself. But if you don’t get here soon…I may have to do something very similar to what I did to your friend, Zack.” Sephiroth said slyly.

Cloud’s mind raced back in time to a few days ago. Zack’s lifeless body lay on cold, rough rocks, the pouring rain pounding into the bullet holes that covered his body. “No…I’m on my way…” he said quietly as he closed his phone.

“What was that about?” Link asked.

Cloud didn’t answer. He walked across the room and stopped at the door. “I have to go” he said.

Several jaws instantly dropped. “But Cloud…” Sora started, unsure of what to say.

“It’s something I need to do…alone. Sorry I couldn’t be of anymore use in finding your pendant but I need to go. If I don’t, someone will get hurt.” He opened the door and closed it behind him as he exited the house.

“Anyone else want to ditch us?” Ike said with a bit of anger in his voice.

“C’mon Ike, he’s not ditching us” Samus said.

“What would you call it then?” Ike snapped. Samus sighed.

“Forget about Cloud. We need to go get the pendant.” Marluxia said.

“Alright then, let’s go.” Roy said.

“Count me in too” Zelda said with a smile.

“No!” Link and Marth shouted at the same time. “You can’t do this Zelda. It’s too dangerous.” Link said.

Zelda frowned. “I can do this and I will do it. I feel much better thanks to Zexion and besides, if I go back to the castle, my father will harm me even more than before.”

Link and Marth sighed out of defeat. They both knew Zelda was right.

“Riku and I will go after Xemnas.” Sora said. “We could try to stop him before he even gets to leave for Altea.”

“I will go with you” Lexaeus said with a nod to Sora and Riku.

“And the rest of us will go after the pendant” Larxene said proudly.

Link ran back into his bedroom and came back with four bags. He threw them over to Sora, Riku and Lexaeus. “It’s a tent and three sleeping bags. You guys wont make it in one day.” Link said.

“So what about you guys?” Riku asked. “You definitely won’t make it to Altea in one day.”

“You’re right, we won’t. But there’s a city on the way there we could stay at and gather supplies.” Ike said.

Marluxia smiled. “Alright, then let’s get moving!”
